Add a bottom layer of gravel or porous rock to prevent soil from falling into support base water reservoir

Cover the layer of gravel with a thin layer of soil

Insert plant and pour soil around plant until roots are covered and there is an adequate layer to support plant health

Water your plant as recommended and any excess water will collect in the water reservoir. View the water meter to determine the amount water in the reservoir.
